Anchorage Golf Course

Golf Digest ranks Anchorage Golf Course first in Alaska on its 2025-'26 Best in State list, carrying the "Public" label — a two-course list Golf Digest itself calls "an abbreviated Best in State list based on just a dozen or so evaluations from some ambitious travelers." Bill Newcomb designed the course, which opened in 1987 at 3651 O'Malley Road; Forrest Richardson, ASGCA, began a renovation in 2008 expected to conclude in 2028. The course states its golf season runs from early May through mid-October, and it is a Municipality of Anchorage Public Facility open to anyone, with an out-of-state exception to its standard five-day advance booking window.
