Barnet Museum

The museum opened in March 1938 to house the collection of the Barnet Record Society, founded in 1927 to record and preserve Barnet's history. The operator states that the collection holds hundreds of artefacts dating from the Bronze Age to the present day, together with an extensive archive; displays cover the Battle of Barnet, Barnet Fair and Barnet Market, and the archives, library and reference collection are available to members of the public. Number 31 is not itself on the National Heritage List for England, though fourteen other Wood Street entries are, and the museum's protection is the Wood Street conservation area, designated by the London Borough of Barnet in 1969 and extended in July 2007. High Barnet Underground Station, on the Northern line, is 556 m away and is the one station within 1,600 m.
