Bromley Mountain Resort

Bromley traces its founding to 1936, when Ralph Hutchinson and the Works Progress Administration cut the "Bromley Run" trail on the west side of the mountain; Fred Pabst Jr. incorporated it as a ski area shortly after and introduced lift service in 1938, per the resort's own About page. In January 1943 a 2,800-foot J-bar lift opened between the Twister and East Meadow slopes. A 5,700-foot Riblet double chairlift was installed in 1958. Between 1965 and 1967, Bromley deployed a snowmaking system with more than 50 snow guns. In 1976 Bromley installed a triple-tracked alpine slide. Founder Fred Pabst Jr. died of a heart attack on March 1, 1977. Ownership passed from Pabst's estate to Stratton Mountain in 1979, then to Moore and Munger, Inc. in 1980, and to Simon Oren, also the owner of Magic Mountain, in 1987. In 1990 Joe O'Donnell and Petros Palandjian acquired Bromley; in 2011 Brian and Tyler Fairbank were hired to operate the resort. The Blue Ribbon Quad was installed in 1987, and the Sun Mountain Express, a Doppelmayr quad, was installed in 1997. Bromley is nicknamed "The Sun Mountain" for its southern exposure. During the 1980s rise of snowboarding, Bromley became a hub for the sport as well as telemark skiing, associated with Kåre Andersen's Telemark Festival. The resort's own website states it features 47 trails and nine lifts.
