Buckingham Palace, SW1A 1AA, is listed Grade I as NHLE 1239087, and its grounds are separately a Grade II* registered park and garden, NHLE 1000795. The State Rooms open to visitors each summer and the 2026 dates are 9 July to 27 September: opening 9:30 with last admission 17:30 and closing 19:30 until 31 August, then last admission 16:30 and closing 18:30 from 1 to 27 September, with the palace closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through September. From October to May it opens only on selected dates for small guided tours, starting between 10:00 and 15:30 and lasting around 1 hour 30 minutes. Standard admission is £33.00, or £37.00 with a donation.
History
The Royal Collection Trust states that Queen Victoria was the first sovereign to live in the palace, in 1837, and that the White Drawing Room will not be accessible during the 2026 Summer Opening because of the Buckingham Palace Reservicing programme. At least a dozen further entries on the National Heritage List for England carry Buckingham Palace in their name, among them the Grade I Royal Mews, NHLE 1066364, the Grade I Riding School, NHLE 1239207, the Grade I Summer House in the garden, NHLE 1239210, the Grade I Waterloo Vase, NHLE 1239244, and four Grade II lamp posts at the gateway to the Royal Mews, NHLE 1239206. The Queen Victoria Memorial facing the palace is Grade I, NHLE 1273864, and its gates, gatepiers, balustrades and fountain are a further Grade I entry, NHLE 1239086. Victoria station is 412 m away, St James's Park 584 m, Green Park 775 m and Hyde Park Corner 798 m.
