Candlewood Lake

Connecticut's largest lake, about 16 miles long and 5,400 acres, forms New Fairfield's entire eastern edge. Built as a pumped-storage reservoir and completed in 1928, it is owned by FirstLight Power and stewarded by the Candlewood Lake Authority. Squantz Pond State Park's boat launch reaches Squantz Pond itself, not Candlewood directly.
