Church Farmhouse, Hendon

The Grade II* listing was made on 3 February 1950 and amended 21 March 1985, entered as CHURCH FARMHOUSE MUSEUM. The house ran as Church Farmhouse Museum until Barnet Council withdrew funding and the museum closed on 31 March 2011, after a final exhibition on Harry Beck and the London Tube Map that closed on 27 March; part of the collection went to Barnet Museum and part was sold at auction. Middlesex University took the building over and restored it in 2016, and it now houses the Centre for Abuse and Trauma Studies and the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre. A blue plaque commemorates Mark Lemon, who lived here as a child between 1817 and 1823; blue plaques carry no statutory protection. The house stands inside the Hendon Church End conservation area, designated by the London Borough of Barnet in 1983.
