Cinema dei Piccoli

Alfredo Annibali built it in 1934 as the Casa di Topolino, with a Mickey Mouse holding a cine-camera beside the sign until Disney forced the name off, the image staying until the 1970s; it shut during the war and reopened straight after. At the end of the 1970s the programming passed to Enzo Fiorenza, founder of AIACE, who opened it to art cinema; in 1978 AIACE gave it to Fulvio Wetzl and Titta Labonia, who founded the Piccolo Officine cineclub and gave Wenders's Falso movimento its Italian premiere. Roberto Fiorenza and Caterina Roverso have run it since 1980; it ran a schools programme with the Cineteca Nazionale from 1993 to 1995, and the Dei Piccoli Film Festival began in 2007 with support from the Regione Lazio. DTS stereo and the present screen came with the 1991 refit, a Sony 4K projector in 2013 and a Barco SP 2K-7 laser projector in 2021.
