Citi Field

Citigroup purchased naming rights in a deal announced in November 2006, paying $20 million annually over 20 years; it was, at the time, the most expensive sports-stadium naming-rights agreement ever. The ballpark's exterior design references Ebbets Field, the former home of the Brooklyn Dodgers, while its interior draws on PNC Park; it has orange foul poles and a pedestrian bridge resembling the Hell Gate Bridge. It was built adjacent to Shea Stadium and replaced it. Shea was the Mets' home from April 17, 1964 through September 28, 2008, also hosting the Jets from 1964 to 1983, the Yankees in 1974 and 1975 and the Giants in 1975, and was dismantled between October 2008 and February 2009; its former footprint is now part of Citi Field's parking lots, with plaques marking the original home plate, pitcher's mound and bases.
