History
The Grade II listing of the station was made on 16 June 1987 as list entry 1266140. The shelter is one of the wartime deep-level shelters built beneath the Northern line. Clapham South station is on the Morden branch of the Northern line, between Clapham Common and Balham, at the corner of Balham Hill and Nightingale Lane, and Balham is 939 m south. The tunnels run beneath Clapham Common, which lies in the London Borough of Lambeth, while the addressable structure above them is in Wandsworth.
