A 6.40-acre city park in East Williamsburg, built in 1895 on the former site of a Peter Cooper glue factory. A shelter house on the grounds dates from a 1906 construction campaign.
History
Peter Cooper relocated his glue business from Manhattan to Maspeth Avenue in 1838. His family sold the factory site to the City of Brooklyn for $55,000 in 1895, and it opened as a public park that year. The shelter house was built in 1906 by the contractor L.E. Brown to designs by the architects Dodge & Morrison.
