Depot House Museum
Museum · Pittsfield, Maine
A local history museum housed in Pittsfield's original 1886 railroad depot, run by the Pittsfield Historical Society.
History
"The Pittsfield Historical Society was formed in 1983 in a community effort to preserve and protect some of the town's most valuable assets: its history and artifacts," per the society's own website. The society "collects bits and pieces of Pittsfield history largely through donated artifacts, photographs, newspapers, family scrapbooks and diaries," meeting at "the Depot House Museum on Central Street," where "the public is always welcome to join us." The museum is housed in the original Pittsfield Railroad Depot, built in 1886, and is open by appointment, per TravelMaine.com's Depot House Museum listing.
