Four buildings spanning four blocks, with office space, hundreds of shops, restaurants, services and a multiplex cinema. The complex has earned LEED certification, and the owner is given as Boston Properties.
History
It was built in phases over 15 years: development began in 1968 and concluded in 1983, and construction of each of the four buildings was completed over a ten-year span between 1971 and 1981. The pedestrian mall through Centers 1, 2 and 3 is a privately owned public open space of 1985, on the ground and second levels, with 30 tables and 107 chairs, open at all times.
