Engine Company 240 Firehouse

An active FDNY firehouse, viewable from the exterior. Built for Engine Company 40 and Hook & Ladder Company 21, it houses Engine Company 240 today and has also housed Battalion 48 since 1978.
History
Built in 1895 to designs by Peter J. Lauritzen, who was born in Jutland, Denmark, in the Romanesque Revival style, as part of Fire Commissioner Frederick W. Wurster's campaign. It was designated an individual New York City Landmark on February 12, 2013 as LP-2526.
