Fort Trumbull State Park

The current fort was built 1839-1852 on a site first fortified in 1777 to guard New London Harbor; the original fort was destroyed in Benedict Arnold's 1781 raid. Grounds open daily 8 a.m.-sunset, free; visitor center/fort Wed-Sun 9-5 Memorial Day-Labor Day, adult tickets $6.

History

The site spans over 225 years of military history from the Revolution to the Cold War.
