The Guinea Grill

Restaurant · Mayfair, England

The Guinea Grill sits behind a Young's pub in a Mayfair mews at 30 Bruton Place, with a meat counter at the entrance and dry-aged grass-fed British beef cooked over an open grill. An inn has stood on the site since 1423, according to the restaurant's own history, and the grill room itself opened in 1952.

History

The beef comes from Godfreys of Finsbury Park, a family butcher, and arrives daily for the counter by the door. The kitchen has put suet-lidded pies on the menu since the 1940s, per its own account, and the signature is a beef shin, Guinness and oyster pie topped with a deep-fried oyster.
