Hoxton Hall is a working arts venue at 130 Hoxton Street. The building is Grade II listed, NHLE 1226830, listed on 28 June 1972; Grade II is the second of the three grades on the National Heritage List. No source states its box-office or building hours, so none are given here.
History
The hall was built in 1863 by James Mortimer in the traditional music hall architectural style. James McDonald bought it in 1866 and ran it as McDonald's Music Hall. McDonald expanded the venue in 1867, increasing its capacity, adding a new upper balcony and extending the rear balcony on both sides. The operator states that the hall came through the Second World War undamaged while the nearby Britannia Music Hall was wiped out, and that the basement served as an air raid shelter.
