Castle Craig, Hubbard Park

An approximately 1,800-acre municipal park donated by Walter Hubbard and laid out in consultation with the Olmsted Brothers; its 1900 stone observation tower, Castle Craig, stands on East Peak at 976 feet, with the tower top reaching 1,002 feet above sea level. Access road open May 10-October 30, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., weather permitting.

History

Castle Craig was formally presented to the city on October 29, 1900 by philanthropist Walter Hubbard, president of Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing. Hosts the Daffodil Festival, a tradition since 1978.
