Kettletown State Park
Park · Southbury, Connecticut
A 605-acre state park on Lake Zoar with more than six miles of hiking trails. The name comes from local legend: early colonists traded one brass kettle to the Pootatuck people for the right to hunt and fish here. Day use is open; the campground is closed for the 2026 season after 2024 flood damage.
History
The original village site vanished under water in 1919, when the Housatonic River was dammed to create Lake Zoar.
