Lefferts Manor Historic District

Historic site · Prospect Lefferts Gardens, New York

667 contributing rowhouses and freestanding houses built between 1896 and 1952 under the deed covenants James Lefferts attached to the land in 1893. An area to walk rather than a single site.

History

The district was designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission on October 9, 1979, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 18, 1992, with a boundary increase listed on November 9, 2017. The Lefferts Manor Association, founded in 1919, still enforces the one-family-dwelling covenant.
