History
The museum's own history page states, "In 1977, they founded the nonprofit Moosehead Marine Museum, acquiring the Katahdin as its star exhibit," and "In 1979 the 'Kate' was added to the National Register of Historic Places." Per the museum's own "Museum" page, it "houses a wide array of nautical treasures" and operates seasonally, with 2026 hours running June 16 through October 11, Tuesday through Saturday.
