Mountain Lake

A freshwater lake in the Presidio, administered by the National Park Service. Ducks and waterfowl shelter among the tule reeds.
History
It was the campsite of the Anza settlement party in 1776, and a source of fresh water for San Francisco in the town's early years. Much of the shoreline was buried in the 1930s for a freeway approach to the Golden Gate Bridge.
