Nathaniel Lyon Birthplace Site

A stone fireplace and chimney are all that remain of the house where Gen. Nathaniel Lyon was born in 1818, preserved as a small state park inside Natchaug State Forest. Lyon was the first Union general killed in the Civil War, at Wilson's Creek, Missouri, in 1861.
