Nipmuck State Forest

Over 9,400 acres across five towns including Union, Woodstock and Willington. Its signature feature is the Mountain Laurel Sanctuary, a mile-long scenic drive that peaks late June to early July, plus backpack campsites by reservation. Open daily 8 a.m.-sunset, free.
