Palazzo Serristori

A palace of 1565 built by Averardo Serristori, ambassador of Cosimo I de' Medici to Pius IV, standing between via della Conciliazione and Borgo Santo Spirito with its main façade on via dei Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro.
History
Italian Wikipedia records that it was built on the site of a small palace owned first by Cesare Borgia and then by cardinal Bartolomeo Della Rovere, and that it became the Tuscan embassy to the pope before that embassy moved to Palazzo Firenze in Campo Marzio. A Renaissance plaque on the building commemorates Serristori. The plain fact worth stating is that this Renaissance palace is still standing, and that the buildings which stood around piazza Scossacavalli are not.
