Nearly 800 acres on the Talcott Mountain traprock ridge, donated to the state in 1944 by inventor Curtis H. Veeder, whose own trails still lace the property. The blue-blazed Metacomet Trail runs through much of the park, opening to views of the Farmington River Valley. Camping, horseback riding and ground fires are prohibited, honoring the donor's wishes. Open daily 8 a.m. to sunset, free; phone (860) 242-1158.
