Quassy Amusement Park & Splash Away Bay

Amusement park · Middlebury, Connecticut

Quassy entrance

One of America's last family-owned lakeside amusement parks, on Lake Quassapaug since 1908 — 20-plus rides including the award-winning Wooden Warrior wooden coaster, plus the Splash Away Bay waterpark. Open seasonally, roughly April through October.

History

Quassy began as a trolley park: the electric line that reached Lake Quassapaug in 1908 turned the lake into a summer resort with swimming, dancing, and a carousel. Three Waterbury businessmen bought the park in 1937. 'Quassapaug' derives from a Native American term for 'Big Pond,' and a 2026 index named Quassy the most affordable theme park in America.
