Ragged Mountain Resort

In the spring of 1964, Governor John King approved a $300,000 Industrial Park Authority loan for the development of Ragged Mountain ski area, and the area opened in January 1965, per New England Ski History's Ragged Mountain page. A few hours before an October 16, 1968 foreclosure auction, Virginia resident James Foote purchased a controlling interest in Ragged Mountain Corporation, "rescuing the ski area," per the same source. In early July 1974, Indian Head National Bank published a new foreclosure notice on Ragged Mountain Corporation, scheduling an auction for July 26, 1974; with no other bidders, the State of New Hampshire purchased Ragged Mountain for $231,088, per New England Ski History. Following that auction, a group called Ragged Mountain Recreation Area Inc., led by Boston Hill ski area owner Bob Dunn, initially leased the mountain on a month-by-month basis from the state rather than buying it outright. In July 1987, Alan Endriunas of Endriunas Brothers, Inc. announced a deal to purchase the 1,600-acre property, per New England Ski History; he completed the purchase that October for $875,000 and reopened the area to the public on January 1, 1988. After the ownership defaulted on a $4.75 million loan during the 2006-07 season, "the ownership sold Ragged to RMR-Pacific LLC, a subsidiary of Pacific Group, in May of 2007," per the same source. Ragged Mountain was owned by entities controlled by Douglas Anderson, former chairman of Pacific Group Resorts Inc. (which also owns Jay Peak), and was placed on the market in March 2025, per NewEnglandSkiIndustry.com's November 4, 2025 report. Ragged Mountain was sold to a group of investors in an estimated $6.4 million real estate transaction completed that day, November 4, 2025, to SF Mountain Co, LLC, a company formed in May 2025 by Seth Offen, Tristan Whitman, Carl Rominger, Josh Larkin, and Bill Morrison; the same report states SF Mountain Co formed Ragged Mountain Resort LLC in October 2025. Ragged Mountain Resort's own About page states "As of November 2025 Ragged Mountain Resort is locally owned by SF Mountain Co, LLC (SFMC)" and that "this marks the end of Pacific Group Resorts' (PGR) management role," though PGR assisted with the transition through the start of the 2025-26 ski season. The same page describes the new ownership group SFMC as "led by six close friends who grew up skiing at Ragged and have deep ties to Danbury and the surrounding region."
