History
A cinema opened on the site in 1909 as the Kingsland Palace; the present building dates from 1915, when the Kingsland Empire opened. F. E. Bromige designed the 1937 Art Deco remodelling of the frontage and auditorium. The building was added to the National Heritage List on 1 February 1999 at Grade II, NHLE 1244939.
