The Royal Victoria Patriotic Building stands on the east side of Wandsworth Common at John Archer Way, SW18 3SX, and is listed Grade II* as 'FORMER ROYAL VICTORIA PATRIOTIC SCHOOL', NHLE 1065496. History
The Grade II* listing was made on 3 October 1973 and amended on 4 September 1995 as list entry 1065496. The building was put up in 1859 by public subscription as the Royal Victoria Patriotic School, an asylum for girls orphaned in the Crimean War. The architect was Major Rohde Hawkins and the style is Gothic Revival combining Scottish Baronial with French Chateauesque. It stands inside the Wandsworth Common Conservation Area. Wandsworth Common station, on Southern, is 1,057 m away and Clapham Junction 1,243 m.
