Scantic River State Park

784 acres spread across six parking areas and three towns, with roughly 10 miles of river for canoeing and white-water kayaking, plus trout, bass and yellow perch fishing. Hikers can find ruins of the historic Hazard Powder Company along the river. Open daily 8 a.m.-sunset, free, no camping.
