30 acres of rocky shoreline and beach, Connecticut's first new shoreline park in over 50 years when designated in 2014. The Cass Gilbert-designed former tuberculosis sanatorium buildings, which treated children with heliotherapy until 1958, are on the National Register but remain locked and strictly off-limits — view them from outside only. Grounds open daily 8 a.m. to sunset, free, leashed pets welcome; fishing, hiking, kayaking and surfcasting.
