Tenney Mountain

Tenney Mountain's own About page states skiing at the mountain "dates back to the 1930s, when local skiers carved their own routes down the mountain," and that its first formal trails, cut by 1959, were served by a T-bar lift installed by 10th Mountain Division veteran Sam Hall. In 1964, per the same page, the Hornet Double chairlift was installed and was "famously carried up the mountain by hand." An independent ski-history site documents that Tenney closed and did not open for the 2001-02 season; was purchased by SnowMagic in October 2002 and reopened that December; again did not open for the 2006-07 season; and after operating through 2009-10 was sold on December 15, 2010 to Iroquois Capital, entering a multi-year dormant period during which wind turbines were built on the property in spring 2012, per New England Ski History's Tenney Mountain page. Tenney Mountain Development Group purchased the property on November 21, 2014 for $1.25 million, and the Hornet chairlift resumed service on March 8, 2018 "for the first time in eight years," with 2018-19 described as the first full winter of operations "in nearly a decade," per the same source. Tenney Mountain's own About page states it is currently owned by Northcountry Development Group, describing the mountain as being "in the midst of a new chapter" focused on "restoring operations, improving infrastructure, and preserving the spirit" of the mountain. Tenney Mountain's own site states, in past tense, that it "is now CLOSED for the 2025/26 winter season," thanking everyone for what it called an outstanding winter As of this writing, the site is selling 2026-27 season passes with a stated price-increase deadline: "All Season Pass prices will increase after October 15th. Purchase yours today and lock in next winter while prices are still discounted." The site lists winter lift-operating hours for the Hornet Double, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, in addition to running scenic "Fall Chairlift Rides" starting September 26 and hosting an Oktoberfest on October 10. Tenney Mountain is listed by Ski NH, the state ski areas trade association, among its member ski areas. On a third-party snow-report aggregator, Tenney's page lists a projected operating season of December 5 to April 11, shown as "closed for the season" outside that window. The Hornet Double is described on the resort's own site as "New Hampshire's oldest operating chairlift."
