W.E.B. Du Bois Boyhood Homesite

Per Wikipedia's article on the site, the 5-acre W.E.B. Du Bois Boyhood Homesite contains the foundational remnants of the home of Du Bois's grandfather, where Du Bois lived for the first five years of his life. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark on the same day, May 11, 1976. Du Bois received the property as a sixtieth-birthday gift in 1928 but sold it in 1954 after being unable to renovate it, and the original house was later demolished; the site was donated to the state in 1987 and is administered by the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
