History
The present stadium opened in 2007 on the site of the original Wembley Stadium, which stood from 1923 until 2000. Populous and Foster and Partners designed it, Multiplex built it, and the cost was 798 million pounds. Two partially retractable roof structures over the east and west ends can be opened to let sunlight onto the pitch. The Football Association owns the ground through its subsidiary Wembley National Stadium Ltd, and it hosts most England home matches and the FA Cup Final. The ground carries no entry on the National Heritage List for England.
