Whistling Straits: Straits Course

First on Golf Digest's 2025-'26 Wisconsin Best in State ranking, labelled "Public." Designed by Pete Dye, it opened in 1998 on two miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and plays 7,790 yards at a slope of 152. It carries a Sheboygan mailing address — N8501 Lakeshore Road, Sheboygan, Wisconsin 53083 — but on the operator's own coordinates the U.S. Census Bureau places it in the Town of Mosel, an unincorporated township in Sheboygan County, within no incorporated place. Walking-only: "The Straits Course is a walking only golf course. Golf carts are not allowed." It has hosted three PGA Championships, the 2007 U.S. Senior Open, and the 2021 Ryder Cup.
