Burke Mountain Resort, Vermont: East Burke's academy hill, out of receivership

Burke Mountain spent nearly a decade in federal receivership tied to what WCAX described as "the $200 million EB-5 Kingdom con" before Bear Den Partners was announced as its buyer in April 2025, per WCAX's own reporting. Bear Den Partners — described by WCAX as "an ownership group with local ties" that had "been working on this now for four years" — plans roughly $10 million of capital investment over the first two years of ownership and aims to triple snowmaking capacity.
