General's Retreat: Golf in Old Hickory, Tennessee

The routing engine's own destination waypoint for that query reads "Hermitage Golf Course," independently confirming the coordinates used. The course's address, as the operator publishes it, is 3939 Old Hickory Blvd, Old Hickory, TN 37138.

Golf Digest's Best in State 2025-'26 ranking page for Tennessee returns HTTP 200 and lists fifteen courses, ranked 1 through 15. An earlier pass wrongly concluded the ranking did not exist, because it requested a URL one path segment short of the real one; that address does not exist, and the site answers it with a generic not-found page around 237,000 bytes long that carries no ranking at all. Both addresses were requested again in a single later run: the short one returned 404, the full one returned the ranking. Hermitage Golf Course's own site advertises that its President's Reserve course was "voted 'Top 10 in State' by Golf Digest," but that claim traces to a separate, unranked Golf Digest guide to Tennessee's public courses, not to the Best in State ranking; President's Reserve does not appear on the Best in State list at all.

General's Retreat opened in 1986, designed by Gary Roger Baird. It hosted the LPGA Sara Lee Classic from 1988 to 1999, a twelve-edition run confirmed independently by the tournament's own record: the Sara Lee Classic played on the LPGA Tour from 1988 to 2002 overall, but only its stay at Hermitage ended in 1999 — the tournament then moved to the Legends Club of Tennessee in Franklin and continued as the Electrolux USA Championship through a final edition in 2002. A live sweep of the booking calendar for both Hermitage courses found no bookable tee time at all on either course on September 16 and September 17, 2026; the cause is not established — no closure notice appears anywhere on the operator's site, and the site's own dated post from August 31, 2026 describes both courses as being "in pristine condition come September" — so this is recorded as an open question about that specific pair of dates, not as a closure.

President's Reserve, the second course at the same complex, opened in 2001, designed by Denis Griffiths. The operator describes it as playing to 7,200 yards through "300 acres of natural Tennessee wetlands and along the banks of the beautiful Cumberland River." No professional-championship record was found for this course.
