Chiesa dei Santi Vincenzo e Anastasio alle Tre Fontane
Historic site · Ardeatino, Italy
The conventual church of the Tre Fontane, where the community keeps its offices. Its foundation goes back to the seventh century in origin, while the fabric belongs to the Cistercian rebuilding after 1140. It keeps a medieval fresco cycle. Open every day 06:30 to 20:45.
History
The church takes its double dedication from Vincent of Saragossa, whose relics reached the abbey in 1370, and from the Persian martyr Anastasius, whose head was sent to the Greek-Armenian monastery here by the emperor Heraclius. The bull of 25 March 1981 that suppressed the territorial abbacy was named for the two saints.
