Ascutney Outdoors

For over 80 years Mount Ascutney's trail network and alpine terrain served as the centerpiece of local recreation, until the ski area, then Ascutney Mountain Resort, closed in 2010, according to Ascutney Outdoors' own history page. In 2015 the town acquired 470 acres of the former ski area, with a conservation and recreation easement conveyed to the Upper Valley Land Trust, and Ascutney Outdoors was established as the non-profit to manage the land; the same 470 acres were purchased that year by the Trust for Public Land, working with the town of West Windsor and the Upper Valley Land Trust, per Wikipedia's Mount Ascutney article. Ascutney Outdoors is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Ascutney Outdoors Center, a community gathering space, opened in 2018. An 1,800-foot Doppelmayr T-bar lift was completed in 2019 after community fundraising, preceded by an earlier handlebar tubing lift installed with support from Holiday Inn Club Vacations sometime in the 2010s. Ascutney Outdoors welcomes both skiers and snowboarders on the terrain served by its T-bar, and also offers backcountry skiing on Mount Ascutney and cross-country skiing access to the privately-owned Mile Long Field, made available by the landowners.
