A local history museum in the 1888 Black River Academy building, once attended by Calvin Coolidge.

History

Black River Academy was chartered in Ludlow in 1835; the current brick, Richardsonian Romanesque building at 14 High St. was built in 1888 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 (reference #72000108), per Wikipedia's "Black River Academy" article. Future U.S. President Calvin Coolidge attended Black River Academy; since 1972 the building has housed the Black River Academy Museum, operated by the Black River Historical Society.
