Boston Manor House and Boston Manor Park

The Grade I listing was made on 11 July 1951 as list entry 1079603. The Jacobean house was built for the newly widowed Lady Mary Reade; Hounslow Council dates it 1623, and other accounts give 1622 or 1622-3. The estate passed to the Clitherow family, who held it for roughly 250 years, and John Bourchier Stracey-Clitherow was the last private owner. A restoration begun in 2018 was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England, the GLA Good Growth Fund, the Wolfson Foundation, the Pilgrim Trust, the Heritage of London Trust and the John and Ruth Howard Trust, and the house reopened after it. Three further Grade II entries stand in the grounds: the stables, NHLE 1358662; the garden wall with two sets of iron gates and gateposts, NHLE 1079604; and a gateway about 100 yards south of the house, NHLE 1188767. Two more Grade II entries are houses on the road outside the grounds: Nos. 69 and 71 Boston Manor Road, NHLE 1079605, and Nos. 73 and 75, NHLE 1079606. Brentford station, on South Western Railway, is 695 m away, and Boston Manor Underground station 705 m on the Piccadilly line; that station building was itself listed Grade II on 21 March 2002 as NHLE 1063901, a 1934 design by Stanley Heaps in consultation with Charles Holden with a tall tower lit by glass brick.
