Columbus Park
Park · Chinatown, New York
Built in 1897 on the site of the demolished Mulberry Bend slum — once at the core of the Five Points district — after a campaign by photojournalist Jacob Riis; renamed Columbus Park in 1911. Today it's a daily gathering place for the local Chinese community for mahjong, traditional music, tai chi, and cultural celebrations.
