Dorich House Museum, 67 Kingston Vale, SW15 3RN, opens Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 11am to 5pm, with last entry at 4.30pm, and admission is free. The sculptor Dora Gordine designed the building for herself and completed it in 1936 as a combined studio, gallery and home; it is listed Grade II, NHLE 1300092, and Kingston University owns and runs it. History
The operator describes the house as an exceptional example of a modern studio house by a woman artist. It holds sculpture by Gordine together with the Russian art collection of her husband, Richard Hare. The house stands outside the south-western wall of Richmond Park; the park is in Richmond upon Thames, while the Grade II park boundary walls on Kingston Hill, NHLE 1080049 and NHLE 1358450, and the two bollards at Ladderstile Ride, NHLE 1358461, are in Kingston, because the borough line runs along the wall. There is no station in Kingston Vale or Coombe, and Norbiton is the nearest.
