Ealing Studios
Historic site · Ealing, England
Ealing Studios stands at Ealing Green, W5 5EP, on the same green as Pitzhanger Manor and about 250 m from it. It is a working studio and not a visitor attraction: no public admission or tour is published by the operator, and what a visitor sees is the frontage on the green.
History
Stages 2, 3A, 3B and 5 are listed together at Grade II as NHLE 1389249, listed on 26 June 2001, and the White House on the site is a separate Grade II entry, NHLE 1389250, listed the same day. The operator dates the site to 1902. Michael Balcon took over from Basil Dean in 1938 and ran the studio through the period of the Ealing comedies. The BBC bought the studios on Ealing Green in 1955 for £300,000 and sold the property in 1993.
