Erith Pier and Riverside Gardens

Erith Pier is the longest pier in Greater London, a working deep-water wharf structure with a public deck on top rather than a Victorian pleasure pier. The deck and the adjoining Riverside Gardens are free public open space on the William Cory Promenade, DA8 1FE, and the pier carries no entry on the National Heritage List for England.
History
Erith had a spell as a riverside resort by 1849, when its pier and hotel served day-trippers arriving by Thames pleasure boat or by rail. Riverside Gardens occupies roughly the site where Henry VIII established a naval dockyard, and it hosts the annual Erith Riverside Festival. Erith station is roughly 250 to 300 m from the promenade and the gardens.
