Farmington Canal Heritage Trail
Park · Plainville, Connecticut
A paved rail-trail following the bed of the Farmington Canal, which opened in 1828 and was completed to Northampton by 1835, and the New Haven and Northampton Railroad, built 1847. Plainville's Northwest Drive trailhead anchors the continuous northern section running toward the Massachusetts border in Suffield; check the trail association's current maps, as gaps have continued to close.
