USS Pampanito
Museum · Fisherman's Wharf, California
A Balao-class diesel-electric submarine open to visitors at Pier 45, operated by the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association. She is not a National Park Service vessel, so the closure of Hyde Street Pier and the move of the park's fleet to Vallejo do not affect her.
History
Pampanito was built at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, launched on 12 July 1943 and commissioned on 6 November 1943. She has been a museum ship in San Francisco since 21 November 1975. She was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 14 January 1986, reference number 86000089, and is a National Historic Landmark.
