Garden Museum

The operator states that the museum was founded by Rosemary and John Nicholson in 1977 to rescue the abandoned St Mary-at-Lambeth church, which was due for demolition, and that the church is the burial place of John Tradescant, c1570 to 1638, whose tomb is the centrepiece of the courtyard garden. Three tombs in the churchyard are separately Grade II* listed: the Tradescant family tomb, NHLE 1116214, the tomb of Admiral Bligh, NHLE 1116226, and the tomb of William Sealy, NHLE 1080381. Millbank Pier is 496 metres away across the river and Lambeth North 755 metres.
