A San Francisco Recreation and Park property of 4.14 acres at 1730 15th Avenue, bounded by 14th and 15th Avenues and Noriega Street. The summit is about 666 feet (203 m). Open 5am to midnight.
History
The hill is an outcrop of chert, which is part of the heterogeneous assemblage known as the Franciscan Formation, under a thin layer of sand. It carries endangered Franciscan wallflower and dune tansy, along with bush lupin, beach strawberry, bush monkey flower and coyote bush, and the summit is crowned with Monterey cypress trees. Residents call it Turtle Hill; the City's property name is Grand View Park.
