Great Falls of the Housatonic
Park · Canaan, Connecticut
The Housatonic tumbles roughly sixty feet over rock and ledge here, throwing up its biggest mist plumes during spring runoff. The hydroelectric station beside the falls, running since 1914, maintains an overlook and two trail systems with direct access to the Appalachian Trail, which passes through the village along the unused 1851 canal.
